What a standard mow includes
Every mowing visit starts with a quick walk of the section so nothing is missed and nothing is damaged — garden beds, young plantings, toys and pet areas are all noted before the mower starts. The lawn itself is cut at a height that suits Canterbury conditions: short enough to look sharp, long enough to keep the roots shaded and the soil from drying out in a nor’wester. Edges along paths, driveways and fences are trimmed so the boundary lines read crisp, and clippings are collected rather than left in clumps across the grass.

Most customers settle into a regular round — weekly or fortnightly through the fast spring and summer growth, stretching out when growth slows over winter. Regular mowing is genuinely better for the grass: cutting a little and often thickens the sward, starves out weeds and avoids the scalping that happens when an overgrown lawn is hacked back in one go. The work is done with well-kept petrol mowers, line trimmers for edges and tricky corners, and a ride-on mower for larger properties where a push mower would take all day. Because the gear is sized to the job, small courtyards do not pay for big machines and big sections do not wait all weekend. Fuel, oil, blades and trimmer cord are Carl’s problem, not yours.
